It’s finally here! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to share with you the long anticipated release of “360 Degrees of Grief, Reflections of Hope”, Volume 1. This the first in a series of anthology books called 360 Degrees coming from Selah Press and managing editor, Kayla Fioravanti , out of Franklin, Tennessee.
I am very honored to be a contributing author, standing among truly amazing and inspiring people of faith. The list of 64 authors come from many walks of life and include theologians and pastors, like Bruce Fong, dean at Dallas Theological Seminary, and Tom Burgess, executive director of Global Missions International; Christian recording artists like Steve Green, Wayne Watson, Melodie Tunney and Clay Crosse; entrepreneurs like Bethany Learn, founder and CEO of Fit2B Studio and Joyce Bone,co-founder of the environmental service company, EarthCare. There are established authors such as Mary Humphrey and of course Kayla Fioravanti, in addition to educators, performing artists, ministry leaders, life coaches and housewives. Through a myriad of circumstances, the writers open up to share with the reader their first-person accounts of personal, often life changing experiences with grief and the deep heartfelt emotions involved on the way to hope and healing.
Ask and you will receive – Contributing to Hope and Healing
Kayla is a friend, former industry colleague and sister in Christ whom I dearly adore. When she contacted me to ask if I would consider contributing a story to her new book project about grief, I was a little reluctant. OK…I was a lot reluctant. In fact, I did everything to avoid writing a submission even though I felt the Holy Spirit repeatedly guiding me to do just that. I made every excuse you can imagine. Yes, it was a little intimidating to think about being published but mostly, I didn’t want to share what I was feeling deeply compelled to share. It was so very personal and I was not the only player in the story, all of whom I didn’t want to hurt. I did NOT want to put it all in writing and definitely not in a very public and forever out there medium like a book that would be available in hard copy and digital formats. Gasp! I just couldn’t! Could I?
So I ran from it as fast as my short legs could carry me for weeks. I even went so far as to volunteer when Kayla crowd-sourced for editing team members. Whew! I thought to myself…”OK, that will be my contribution to this project INSTEAD of a written story of my own experiences with grief.” But the Lord would not let me off the hook that easily. As I began receiving submissions to proofread and edit, the prompting to submit my own story became even more urgent and undeniable. I finally surrendered and put the experience that I was being led to write on paper, submitting it for review to be included in 360 Degrees of Grief. I must admit, I walked through more healing and restoration as I typed out the words through tears. Yeah, I think God knew that there was more hiding way down deep within me than I had recognized to that point. He is so good like that! My contribution was accepted and now you can find my story of deep healing, “A Garden Full of Grief”, on page 149 of this truly anointed compilation of stories. While my story is not about the loss of a loved one, it is about grief that comes from a different kind of loss, actually a lack that became a deep loss. I pray that it will touch the recesses of each reader and help bring healing and hope to many.
